Brainerd, Minn. – (July 5, 2016) Heading into the Independence Day weekend stop on the 2016 Trans Am championship trail at Brainerd International Raceway, Paul Fix and the #50 Stopflex/ClassicTube/CarCoach/Techron Corvette were the team to beat, carrying momentum from a victory at the previous race in New Jersey. For the second event in a row, Fix made the task difficult for his fellow competitors as he once again took the top step of the podium for his second win in a row.
?There is the old adage in racing that only one lap matters, the last lap,? said Fix. ?This makes the second race we have shown that we intend to be there at the end, to go the distance and win while others have faltered.?
Fix settled in behind the race leader and clicked off laps waiting for the opportunity to advance. That chance came on the final lap with only a handful of turns remaining to navigate.?
?Patience is always a premium at tracks like BIR. There are limited passing spots, the track can get dirty and slick. You have to allow the race to develop and make your move when the door opens,? noted Fix. ?The leader had a mechanical issue and we capitalized on our race strategy of being around at the finish.?
The win moves Fix into the top five in championship points. The remaining events are at venues Fix knows well and attains success.
?I have to thank my team. They are certainly on top of their game. Our qualifying time and race pace at Brainerd bears that out,? said Fix. ?I am looking forward to the rest of the season and more wins.?
