Alton, VA – (September 26, 2016) Round eight of the 2016 Trans Am Championship tour at VIRginia International Raceway will go into the record books as a weekend of superior performance by Paul Fix and the #50 Stopflex/ClassicTube/CarCoach/Techron Chevrolet Corvette.? From the moment Fix?s team unloaded their race car until the checkered flag waved on Saturday, Fix was the class of the field qualifying on the pole, running away with the 31 lap race to victory and establishing a new TA class lap record in the process. The win gave Fix a trifecta of victories at VIR, showcasing the team?s dominance at the facility the last three seasons of racing there.
?This is what we came to VIR to achieve,? noted Fix. ?We need wins and points to secure the Trans Am championship. We accomplished both this weekend in stellar fashion.?
The fast sweeping layout of the VIR circuit suits Fix well. At one point during the race, Fix?s lead over the second place competitor swelled to some 35 seconds. Fix never looked back and drove a determined race to victory.
?My team at Tony Ave Racing took things to the next level. They prepared a completely dominant car for me. I couldn?t ask for anything more,? said Fix.
As the season winds down with just four races remaining, Fix now sits second in championship points, a mere ten points away from first place. What lies ahead are venues that Fix has previously excelled at.
?We are certainly in the thick of the hunt at this point,? offered Fix.? ?The rest of the schedule is at tracks I do well at. We are on pace to leap atop the standings and wrap up the title in earnest.?
The next round in the 2016 schedule will be Homestead-Miami Speedway, October 9th. ?Fix and team are focused on the task at hand.
